About ACE CRC Summer Internships

This is an exciting opportunity for high-achieving undergraduates to gain real experience alongside leading scientists working on important global climate questions.

Under the supervision of ACE CRC Project Leaders, interns will have the opportunity to attend seminars, and planning meetings, and gain experience working in a supportive, collegiate research environment. Upon completion of their internship, students will be required to write a report and deliver a talk about their work.

Duration of Internship: 

The Internship lasts for a period of 8-12 weeks.

Remuneration

Interns will receive a stipend of $700 per week. The ACE CRC will also cover airfare costs to Hobart for successful interstate applicants, but will not cover any additional relocation costs.

• Interns are required to be enrolled at an Australian university.

•  Interns must have completed at least three years of an undergraduate program, with an aspiration to go on to study Honors. Exceptional candidates may be considered after 2 years of undergraduate study.

•  Interns must have a minimum “Credit” average, with an emphasis on high grades in subjects of relevance to the project.

2. The Antarctic and Southern Ocean Internship

About Antarctic and Southern Ocean Internship

The Antarctic and Southern Ocean Internship is a collaboration between the International Antarctic Institute (IAI), the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), the University of Tasmania, the Secretariat for the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) and the Secretariat for the Agreement on the Conservation of Albatrosses and Petrels (ACAP).

This collaboration provides an opportunity for students with a special interest in scientific, legal, social, economic, and policy research to undertake a 6–10 week supervised placement in a multilateral management and conservation organization(s).

The internship aims to provide students with an opportunity to gain experience in the work of a multilateral management and conservation organization as well as acquire research skills necessary to undertake a professional role in the discipline of interest.

Duration of Internship

The Internship lasts for a duration of 6-10 weeks.

The Students pay fees in the range of $4,679-$10,756

Student Visa Requirements

To study abroad in Ireland, the first step is to secure your visa to this country.

1.  To start with, the student would need a signed summary of his/her application form, original passport, passport-sized color photographs.

2. You will have to pay the relevant fee and submit a copy of an Electronic Transfer of fees from the applicant to the Irish Bank of the college, showing the following details; beneficiary’s name, address, and bank details.

These details should also the reflect as the same details for the sender and a copy of a letter/receipt from the Irish college confirming that the fee has been received.

3. The student should have a valid receipt that shows that the course fees have been lodged to an approved student fee payment service.

Please note that if you are refused a visa you may reapply in the space of 2 months. Also note that, any fee paid to the college would be refunded if the visa application of the student refused (apart from any small administration charge) within a reasonable period. 

4. Bank Statement: You will have to present an evidence of the amount of money in your bank account and also provide an evidence that you have access to sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees and cost of living expenses, without having an alternative to public funds, or the a dependence on casual employment.
